Guest writer Arthur Che headed the InfoCamp Berkeley 2012 planning team

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since last year’s event. InfoCamp Berkeley is less than 2 weeks away, and we’re super excited to do it again! For an idea of what to expect, here’s a quick recap from last year.

We had a amazing turnout, filling South Hall with 100 working professionals and 50 students from various disciplines. In the morning, we all gathered for an insightful keynote by Dave Hogue on designing for simplicity. Dave deftly broke down his notion of the Complexity Curve, exploring the increasing complexity of today’s interfaces and devices.

After a tasty lunch from Ann’s, we split up into different rooms at South Hall and dug into a variety of subjects:

Sara Cambridge led a session on designing for behavior change, covering the Quantified Self movement and some of BJ Fogg’s latest work on behaviors and persuasion.

Benjamin Wiederkehr gave an ad hoc presentation on the basics of information visualization.

Dave Lester and Michael Hintze led an informal discussion on data mining techniques and methods

Other sessions covered awesome topics like mindmapping, information in relief aid, data for cities and citizens, and a whole lot more.

Finally, after a long day of thinking and interacting, we gave away a few Kindles and let off some steam at the nearby Beta Lounge. All in all, it was an exciting day at the normally studious South Hall, and we can’t wait to create that energy again on Saturday, March 16th. Make haste and register now!
